What is this about?

This is a chance to celebrate the life of Tomie dePaola, one of our area's most artistic spirits, by sharing art from all ages, abilities and mediums.

How do I participate?

1. Make art or decide on your favorite art you want to share!

2. Place a pin on our interactive Google map by clicking this link (HERE) so people find your exhibit.

3. On May 30th and 31st find a good way to display your wonderful art in your yard, at the end of your driveway or at the end of your road.  Be sure to make sure that it can be seen from a car but not so close to the road that it might be a hazard.  Display hours are 10-4pm

4. Take a picture of your work and share with the hashtag #artinyouryard on FB, Instagram or email to the New London Recreation  department or Lake Sunapee Chamber of Commerce and they will share.

5. You could sit with your art and greet all your new admirers or make a route you might enjoy and go see who might be your new favorite local artist.

Can I participate?

YES! We encourage everyone to participate

Are you are professional artist? Please participate!!  Sharing your passions with the world right now is more important than ever and what an easy way for people to get to know what you do.

Are you a creative type? Then yes! You are just as important as anyone.  Sharing with people the creativity inside is an easy way to share joy- so start creating

Are you a kid?  Brilliant!  Because Tomie grew up an aspiring artist and didn't let anyone tell him otherwise and neither should you.  Get out there and start creating with whatever you have.  Art is not just paint and crayons!!  Time to get messy!

Do you shy away from creation but love art? That's okay too!  Share a piece that you own that resonates with you. What a beautiful way to ignite someone else's passion for that artist!

How do I place my pin?

1. Click the linkClick the link on the flyer page or copy/paste this address   https://bit.ly/3dEVuRF   into your browser.  The map does not work if opened in an app on any device.

2. Find the icon: The icon that looks like an upside-down tear drop is your pin.  Click or tap on that icon and a cross hairs should come up where your curser was.  Click on the map where your art will be placed.  Once place the pin can be dragged to another location easily.  Your new pin icon should show as a the ART icon in green.  If it looks like a normal old pin then something has gone wrong.  Take a look down below at 'My map is acting funky'.

3. A new box will appear: A new box will appear hovering over your new pin.  Place a title in the first box (your name, your address or some silly) and then in the notes box please include the artist's name and art title.  If you are showing multiple works please just keep listing!

My map is acting funky!

Oh technology!  If your 'pin' doesn't turn into an ART icon you may not be communicating with the larger map.  Be sure that you have opened the map with your browser and it is not in the Google App.  You can do this by copy and pasting this link into your browser if you just can't find another way..   https://bit.ly/3dEVuRF

As sometimes happens with the best technological planning it just won't work for you- don't panic!  Please feel free to email either Rosanna or Casey with your name, artist's name, art title and your address.  We will be happy to help place the pin.  Give it a try before the day of the exhibit to reduce technological stress... nobody needs that!
